Visit Fergus Falls is excited to announce the launch of our new Event Grant Program, designed to support the promotion of events that bring our community together and showcase the best of what Fergus Falls has to offer.
Whether you’re planning a brand-new event that needs a promotional helping hand getting off the ground, or you have an existing event that could use a boost to reach new heights, this grant program is here to help make it happen.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Our Event Grant Program provides promotional financial assistance to event organizers in the Fergus Falls area. Grants are awarded based on event size, community impact, and promotional potential. This program aims to strengthen our local event landscape and attract visitors to experience all that Fergus Falls has to offer.

ELEGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Who Can Apply?
- Event organizers hosting events within the Fergus Falls area
- New event starters looking to launch their first event
- Organizers of existing events seeking growth and expansion support
- Non-profit organizations, community groups, and individual organizers
- It may affect your grant eligibility if you received an sponsorship from Visit Fergus Falls
Event Requirements
- Event must take place within the Fergus Falls community
- Event must be open to the public
- Event must have a clear promotional and tourism benefit
Grant Guidelines & Rules
Funding Amounts
Grant amounts are determined based on several factors:
- Event Size: Larger events with greater reach may qualify for higher funding amounts
- Promotional Potential: Events with strong marketing strategies and visitor appeal receive priority consideration
- Community Impact: Events that significantly benefit the local community and economy
- Need Assessment: Level of promotional assistance required for the event’s success
Allowable Promotional Expenses
- Print, radio, television, and digital advertising
- Social media marketing and boosted posts
- Event signage, banners, and promotional materials
- Website development and hosting for event promotion
- Photography and videography for promotional content
- Graphic design for marketing materials
- Press releases and media outreach
Under Minn. Stat. § 469.190, subd. 3, 95% of the gross proceeds from a local lodging tax must be used to fund a local convention or tourism bureau to promote the city or town as a tourist or convention center.
DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS
Grant recipients are required to submit all receipts documenting promotional expenses and participation estimates. As well as a copy of all decimation listing Visit Fergus Falls as a donor/sponsor/contributor to the event. Receipts must be submitted within two (2) months after the event conclusion.
| Applicants who have not submitted proper receipts/paperwork on or before the two (2) month event conclusion will remain ineligible for future grants until all missing paperwork is submitted. |
