Agriculture History

Old Phelps Mill played a proud role in the development of agricultural history in Otter Tail County in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The mill still stands and is a picturesque part of our proud landscape.

After World War II, Geneva Tweten and her dedicated committee brought about the restoration of the old building and the beautification of the adjacent grounds along the river. This lovely, pastoral setting is now an Otter Tail County Park. Originally called the Maine Roller Mills and still host to the original equipment, the mill is no longer in operation but is open to tourists.

During the Phelps Mill Festival, art and history combine for a festival on the Mill Park grounds. The event brings artists of many talents and entertainment, food and fun for the whole family.
