Collecting Travel "Stuff"

When I was a kid my dad traveled a lot for work. I don’t think they were very exotic places, but he always managed to come home with a big hug, a story and a little trinket to remind us of his trip. Souvenirs are a great way to remember a vacation... Read More

Music, Dance, Theater…Oh My!

The variety and breadth of performing arts experiences in Fergus Falls is astounding. Now that it’s spring, the songbirds have returned and remind us how much we missed their music during the winter. Get out this spring and take advantage of the live music, dance and live theater throughout Fergus Falls. (Dance photo by Kirsten Danielson) Read More

Winter Busy-ness

The hustle and bustle of the holidays are upon us. Decorating the house with favorite ornaments; shopping for just that special gift; baking is especially rewarding at our house now that the kids join in –lefse and Grandma’s caramels are family favorites. Winter’s late arrival means the lights outside went up without a hitch. Read More

Sweet Dreams

If springtime is the awakening of Mother Nature and all things bright, energized, flamboyant and exciting, then autumn must be that time just before slumber when we’re winding down, relaxing and “nesting” as we prepare for winter. Read More

Critters, Crud and Mud

Living in West Central Minnesota means we have access to all sorts of nature’s gifts. Thanks to Mother Nature and plenty of rain, the golf course is gorgeous and the corn is on track to be amazing. The race track will hold its King of the Dirt Races this month – and hopefully it will NOT be muddy (although mud is exactly what we want for the Viking Challenge and Mud Run on September 19th). If you are a rodeo fan you know that mud makes for a super-fun event – horses and bulls kicking up dirt and cowboys slip-sliding all over the place. Read More

Family, Fun and Fireworks

Summertime, and the livin’ is easy. This is the best time of year to be in Minnesota. The kids are out of school, the days are longer – and of course, warmer – and there are so many options for things to do. That first week of vacation I heard a few “there’s nothing to do” from kids. But I quickly pulled out the summer events calendar – designed for visitors – and posted it on the refrigerator. Read More

Adventure Tourism – on the Easy Side

Do you ever get home from your vacation so exhausted that you need another vacation day just to recover? If your vacation destination is Fergus Falls your visit can have a taste of adventure - but mostly a chance to recharge your batteries. The type of adventure you’ll find here is dubbed “soft adventure” and includes biking, hiking, boating, horseback riding, fishing, etc. You can be active, explore, learn something new – but no break-neck, extra-life-insurance-policy, risk-taking is necessary.
